Book Review: The Girls in the Stilt House by Kelly Mustian

3.5/5

Overall a good book! It took me a while to get into it and it definitely is a book that “gets good” closer to the end rather than the beginning.

The plot was interesting, but again, felt kinda slow at times. The author did an excellent job writing the intense and stressful scenes though. There were three scenes in particular I felt such immense dread I almost had to take a break from reading but couldn’t because I needed to know what happened. The characters sometimes felt lacking, but by the end of the book they felt more well-rounded. Overall I enjoyed reading this and would recommend it if you enjoy stories about young women overcoming huge obstacles and finding ways to survive even in the toughest of circumstances.
